Created by two powerful minds Dag Kittlaus and Adam Cheyer, the co-founders are now set to unveil their next AI-powered digital assistant on Monday, May 9. According the recent reports by The Washington Post, the co-founders of Siri will show off Viv next week which is an AI assistant and is believed to take care of much more complex stuff than the existing Siri.
There would be a number of ways in which Viv would stand apart from Siri in the sense that Viv would be able to take a series of instructions at once and perform accordingly. As an example, you can probably ask Viv to book movie tickets and make a table reservation at a restaurant in one go. Once you have done your part, Viv would complete those tasks without being you sent to any other app. Viv might also end up giving you recommendations if the asked movie is sold out. However, the same tasks with Siri would require multiple instructions and also involve switching to different apps.
Talking about the things Viv would be capable of, it would indeed require deep integration with third-party services. As per The Washington Post, Viv has already partnered with over 50 partners including GrubHub, SeatGuru and Uber.
Grubhub chief executive Matt Maloney said he rushed to sign up with Viv two years ago, impressed with the idea of allowing consumers to perform different activities without having to toggle between services. “No one has been able to say, ‘I want the movie ticket, and the bottle of wine, and some flowers on the side’ — all in one breath,” he said.
Having talked about Viv and what all we think it might be capable of, we can have the final word only once we see it unveiled next week on May 9. The Washington Post also reports that Google and Facebook have tried to acquire Viv, which indeed shows something big awaits us.
What are your expectations from Viv?
