The Space X and Tesla CEO Elon Musk believes that the Cupertino giant should have started working on the Apple Car a little earlier that it actually did. When a number of prolific people came in for an interview at the Code Conference and talked about autonomous cars, they concluded that Google would not be able to compete in the market as they are not really a car company. However, Apple can become a potential competitor.
On the other hand, Musk also feels that Apple is a tad bit late to stand in the competition though.
Here’s what Musk said:
I’d think there will be volume production no sooner than 2020. Is that too late? The sheer scale of automotive manufacturing is hard to imagine until you see the plants. The size of the industrial infrastructure is astonishing.
Although iPhones are way too small when compared to Teslas, but then if a company can produce such high-tech devices at a mamoth scale, it is Apple. Considering that Elon Musk has plans to roll out a million cars off the Tesla family by 2020, Apple really has a lot of work to be done.
